Word
It’s much easier with Microsoft Word than with some other software to pick and choose what you’d like to learn. However, you should be familiar with the following before learning anything else:
- What’s on the screen
- The Quick Access Toolbar
- File commands
- Moving around and selecting
- Editing
- Copying and cutting
- Formatting:
- character formats such as font, size, colour
- paragraph formatting including indenting, line spacing, and justification
- Page setup
- Printing

Beyond Beginners
Once you’re comfortable with the introductory topics, you can choose from any of the following (and so much more - just let us know what you need to achieve):
- Columns
- Tables
- SmartArt (including organisation charts)
- Images, shapes, and WordArt
- Bullets, paragraph numbering, and multi-level lists
- Styles and templates
- References including table of contents, indexes, cross-references, citations, and footnotes/endnotes
- Mail merge
- Headers and footers
- Track changes
